For more than 25 years Scanmatic has delivered advanced solutions for sonar testing to NATO FORACS, NATO’s Naval Forces Sensor and Weapons Accuracy Check Sites located in Norway, Greece and the United States. This November we completed a successful test of a highly accurate concept for underwater positioning, with the final sea trial conducted in beautiful weather in the fjords of Stavanger.

Scanmatic worked together with EvoLogics to present a sophisticated system capable of performing both Ultra Short Baseline (USBL) and Long Baseline (LBL) positioning. The EvoLogics equipment interfaced with the Scanmatic Multi-Positioning System (MPS) such that data from the underwater positioning was transmitted via radio and displayed live in NATO FORACS’ test system. The system demonstrated impressive position accuracy and showcased its potential in an excellent way.
