Application
Scanmatic delivers several types of management systems for the energy sector as shown below:
- Data acquisition system (DAS)
- Video management system (VMS)
- SCADA-system
- Element manager system (EMS)
- Network management system (NMS)
Technology
Scanmatic has many years of experience in developing our own DAS (Hidacs). Hidacs is used by many power companies. The system is currently replaced by H2, Scanmatic’s next generation tool for acquisition, storage and presentation of historical values and present values. H2 consists of several modules, which can be combined to a complete data acquisition system as required. The system includes a wide range of functionality, covering everything from remote configuration of data loggers, to data acquisition and presentation of data. Present values can be presented in graphical views customized for each user, and historical data will typically be presented as graphs.
Hidacs and H2 can be used as a stand-alone system or be interconnected to a SCADA system or a production planning tool.
A video management system, also known as video management software or a video management server, is a component of a security camera system that in general:
- Collects video from cameras and other sources.
- Records / stores that video to a storage device.
- Provides an interface to both view the live video and access recorded video.
The cameras can be remote controlled from the VMS. The system supports both audio and video and can easily be interconnected to an access control system.
A SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) system is a control system architecture that uses computers, networked data communications and graphical user interfaces for high-level process supervisory management, but uses other peripheral devices such as programmable logic controllers (PLC) and discrete PID controllers to interface with the process plant or machinery. The operator interfaces which enable monitoring and the issuing of process commands, such as controller set point changes, are handled through the SCADA computer system. However, the real-time control logic or controller calculations are performed by networked modules which connect to the field sensors and actuators.
An EMS is a management system used for management of individual network elements (NE) in a telecommunication network. A NMS is a management system of end to end services in a telecommunication network. It includes a wide range of functionality including fault, configuration, accounting, performance and security (FCAPS). SNMP is a standard protocol used between the NE and the EMS/NMS.
VMS, SCADA, EMS, and NMS systems are off the shelf product customized by Scanmatic for the end user need.
