SonX Control System Update: Advanced Acoustic Analysis in Real Time

Underwater sound spectrogram with colorful frequencies

The SonX Control System, SCS for our Sonar test, calibration and training product series Soncat, Sontas and STM have received a major upgrade including a number of new usefil features .

New in SCS: Hydrophone Monitor & Audio Output

We’ve added a real-time Hydrophone Monitor to SonX Control Station, giving sonar operators and test engineers powerful acoustic insight — right alongside their active session.

The Monitor combines a live spectrogram, an oscilloscope with ruler measurements, and configurable trigger capture in one integrated view. Hover the spectrogram to inspect frequency and level at any point in time. Select a region on the oscilloscope to instantly read peak levels, frequency components, broadband energy, and spectral characteristics — no separate tools or post-processing needed.

We’ve also added audio output, so you can listen to the hydrophone signal in real time — useful for quick assessments and operator training.

Whether you’re verifying transponder responses, checking signal characteristics during calibration, or training operators on acoustic signal recognition — the analysis happens in real time, where you need it.

SCS is delivered with all Scanmatic SonX systems. In particular, the Sontas Mk II cabled solution is a natural fit for these new monitoring capabilities — with its continuous high-bandwidth hydrophone link, operators get uninterrupted live spectrogram, oscilloscope, and audio right from the control station.
